MEP Systems Design per International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Standards
Cyclotrons are used in particle therapy to treat and target cancer, minimizing damage to healthy cells and tissues. This project, although small in scale, provides an example of the diverse challenges that the MEP California Engineering team was able to solve. A modern cyclotron’s facilities integration is completely different from the existing 20 year old version. Thus, the scope includes a remodel of existing biomedical facility and cyclotron room, where we are providing documentation and design for new chilled water piping and plumbing systems, electrical lighting and controls, as well as the redistribution of existing HVAC and direct digital controls (DDC) to comply with the updated utility requirements.
Coordinating with GE drawings, we are working closely with UCLA to incorporate their requirements for this facility and campus standards into the new design.
